Memories and things

The house is quiet. We miss him so much.

We are very slowly putting thing’s away little bits at a time. My son and I put away his red harness, dishes and one of dog beds the day he gained his wings. We just couldn’t bare to see them. Especially his harness.

There are a few other things of his around the house. We had left his main dog bed in the family room alone. It’s been a mixed bag of emotions leaving it there. Mostly pleasant memories but sad memories too as we think of the discomfort he was in towards the end.

This morning I decided that it was time to put it away. I quietly wept as I walked down to the basement to pack it away. I came back up to the empty spot in the room and there stood the cat.

Most days I’m filled with joyful, happy memories. This morning, I decided, it was ok to be a little sad.

It’s always ok to be sad. It’s been almost a year for Murphy and there’s still some of his things around, I don’t care, there’s no rush.

Losing a beloved pet is every bit as hard as losing a human family member.

So glad you posted today, it’s important to kmow that those of us who have been on this crazy journey, understand the depth of grief and huge void like no others can.

Tjere is no rush in pitting things “away”. Some do that quickly, some take months, mor even years!

I found it kind of touching that your kitty went to Buddy’s spot. Think he’s trying to tell you his presence is still there with uou❤

I want you to know tjat Buddy had an impact on someone yesterday who is struggling with making the decision to help their pup transition. Mor accurately, knowing when it’s time.

I shared some of Buddy’s story, aswell as the wise wordsmof your Bet about”waiting u til something goes wrong”. She found it very comforting .

Of course it’s OK to be sad. Everyone does things on their own timeline, and you followed your heart, that’s all that Buddy wants for you.
